1st
Meeting was held in September 1987 after a group of parents
returned from Melbourne found they need a support group here
in South Australia.
There
were approximately 50 families then.
Heart
Kids offers understanding and support to families who have
had a child diagnosed with a congenital or aquired heart defect.
Members
of the group comprise of families, other interested members
of the public and professionals.
The
Committee consists of volunteers which receives no funding
from any source.
Supporting
parents when the need to travel to Melbourne for surgery arises.
Membership
is open to any interested person and is currently at no cost.
On
joining Heart Kids you will be sent a newsletter every two
months with information on upcoming events etc.
Talking
to parents that have been in similar situations is often helpful.
There
are similar support groups in other states of Australia and
